Meet Barry Ladd, a family physician who practiced medicine for thirty years in a small town in Illinois. He calls it "Our Town," because the residents, including himself, so personally identified with the community.
The people were mostly farmers and mill hands who worked in nearby industry. They were, until recently, comparatively isolated.

The population grew by reproduction rather than by immigration. The typical pattern was to marry your high school sweet-heart, move to a house three blocks from mama, and make babies. These children, in turn, grew up and repeated the cycle. In the thirty years that Ladd practiced in "Our Town," he delivered fifteen hundred babies and recorded one hundred and eighty thousand office visits. He delivered the babies of the babies, and took care of four generations in the same family.

During his career, Ladd was a participant and an observer. He saw how personal events and decisions played out over time. He tells his readers what he saw, heard, and felt. These are all true stories. Some are composites of several people. The names have been changed.

Come, make the rounds with Dr. Ladd. But come quietly, please, you are an observer!

Like no other medium before it, the popular movie presents the potential of a new power for illuminating the depth of human experience. E-Motion Picture Magic employs that power as a tool to increase consciousness.

Cinema therapy offers more perspective on life, prompting the viewer to step back from his or her problems in order to feel less insecure, worried, or discontented. Using films for self-improvement allows a shift in perspective when viewed with conscious awareness.

The use of movies for personal growth and healing carries forward a long-standing connection between storytelling and self-reflection that may date back to the beginnings of spoken language.

Susan Smith — Victim or Murderer tackles the burning questions that grip everyone exposed to this news story: Why in the world did she do it? What was she thinking or feeling at the time of the crime? Was she psychotic — totally out of touch with reality? Did her own father's suicide twist her mind as she was growing up as a child herself? These and other questions are explored by Dr. George Rekers.

Susan Smith — Victim or Murderer weaves psychological insight into the compelling mystery of why this seemingly caring mother would kill her own helpless little children. The story of the drowning of Michael and Alex by Susan Smith has gripped the nation like no other comparable case. A "murdering mother" demands much explaining. We expect every mother will instinctively care for and lovingly protect her dependent children.

Significant health problems led him to natural healing in the early 1990s, and his own health needs motivated him to enter a formal program at the Trinity College of Natural Health in Warsaw, Indiana. With prostate cancer looming, he began an intense program of lifestyle and diet modification. Using the results of his research and adding specific nutrients and herbal supplements to a healthy diet, he was well on his way to recovery five months later.
Researchers cite 60-90 percent of doctor visits are related to stress. Stress costs American businesses over $300 billion per year.

Dr. Witiak’s stories of the bond between the veterinarian, client, and pet take the reader into the exam room and on house calls to experience the laughable calamities, miscues, and surprises as well as the personal sorrows, revelations, and joys that treating animals can bring. This is a book of vignettes and personal commentary by a devoted veterinarian who is dedicated both to the science of his profession and to his personal belief in the importance of being loved and loving.

Dr. Witiak makes readers laugh when he checks a small dog’s breath and gets bitten on the nose and then makes them cry when he hugs an old man who has just lost his faithful canine friend. The stories give the reader a deeper understanding of how the unconditional love of our animals enables us to love each other better.

This is a joyous ride where readers bounce from one event to the other just like the veterinarian bounds from exam room to exam room — each with its own surprises. Readers discover just how organic caring is as Dr. Witiak works his magic, enjoying his tongue-in-cheek observations and self-deprecating humor along the way.
