About Us

One day while participating at a writers' conference, we followed a young woman presenter who announced to her audience that she represented the largest publisher in the United States. I'm sure she felt this a status symbol, but at the same time I became aware as she spoke to her audience that she showed little interest in the struggling writers sitting with rapt attention, awaiting words of wisdom from this representative of yet another giant publishing house in New York City.

We were called on to speak immediately following her presentation and could not help but announce that since our audience had just heard from the largest publisher, they would have the opportunity of hearing from the smallest. Well, we may not be the smallest, but we're proud to be a two person press that feels quite comfortable publishing smaller runs and fewer titles.

We would invite you to examine our titles carefully. We believe you will find a book or two that will excite your curiosity. Of the approximately 500,000 manuscripts each year in search of a publisher, fewer than ten percent find their way into print.

Sadly, there are many good books in that pile, but major publishers with their large overheads and massive advances to a few big-name authors believe they can't afford to publish a book with a print run of a mere few thousand copies. And so the small publisher is born and what an important contribution he can make.

As a young man, I remember perusing titles in small, neighborhood bookstores. There was plenty of room in the back of the store for unusual titles. Not every title was a best seller. You can now use the Internet as the small bookstore of the present.

Here, in the privacy of your home, titles both famous and obscure can be found and ordered with a few keystrokes. The old atmosphere and camaraderie of the old neighborhood bookstore may be gone for the moment, but the unusual titles are here. The proprietor also is just a few keystrokes away. Keep in touch.
